About
VCE Summer Tutoring is a not-for-profit started in 2023 to fight educational disadvantage in Victoria.
Many students in Victoria face barriers to accessing the support they need to thrive in school, whether due to cost, location or other personal and family circumstances. We believe in the value of strengthening opportunities for students from all backgrounds, and providing personalised learning and support for students to maximise their potential.
Our January summer program, combining subject-specific tutoring, wellbeing support, extracurricular activities and information seminars, holistically prepares students for their VCE journey and beyond, in and outside of the classroom.
Our mission and values
Our aims are as follows:
- To advance education by delivering academic support for high school students, particularly those commencing a Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) year.
- To support opportunities for volunteers to develop skills and experience related to education and the delivery of academic support for high school students.
- To reduce educational disadvantage in Australia, particularly in Victoria.
- To provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for all participants, and a child-safe environment for participants under the age of 18.

Meet our 2027 Program Directors
Cy Spaleta
Cy is a Bachelor of Arts student at The University of Melbourne, majoring in Politics & Philosophy and undertaking a concurrent language diploma in Latin. He discovered a passion for educational equity after participating in the 2024 VCE Summer Tutoring Program right after high school and has been part of the program since. Throughout the years, he’s served a variety of additional roles within the program such as Subject Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Vice Director and currently Program Director. When not harrowed by his studies, Cy is usually exploring ancient Greek and Roman myths, reading mid-late 1900 comics or working on making the aesthetic of his room as vibey as possible.
Brian Lim
Brian is a current Bachelor of Science student at The University of Melbourne, majoring in Human Structure and Function. Having been in the tutoring space for over 3 years, he delved into the land of VCEST last year and became part of the fabulous Teaching Support Office team and loved every second of it. Outside of teaching, if you give Brian a TV, Fox Footy and a Hawks game that's enough to occupy him!
Dion Lepair
Dion is a recent Physics and Applied Maths graduate from The University of Melbourne, currently working as a Science Communicator at TwistED Science in Moorabbin. He’s been an Ops member (Ops together strong!) for the last two VCEST programs, and believes in VCEST because he strongly believes everyone should have the opportunity to have their mind blown by an idea, regardless of their background. Outside of work, Dion plays social sports (basketball, netball, volleyball), codes, reads and draws.
Isabella Condon
Isabella is studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology, at The University of Melbourne. She has volunteered with tutoring programs for the past two years and is excited to be a Program Director for VCE Summer Tutoring in 2027. Having participated in a similar program as a student, Isabella loves helping students grow in confidence and creating a welcoming environment for everyone. Outside of volunteering, she's an avid reader, a theatre nerd, and loves all things arts and music.
Piper Johns
Piper is a Bachelor of Arts student, majoring in History and Ancient World studies. They have spent a lot of their undergraduate studies doing a wide range of volunteer work and opportunities, and love contributing to their community. In their spare time they love working out, reading and cooking.
